With the worldwide closure of office buildings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a few of my friends that have never worked remote reached out to ask me: “How do you possibly work remote? This has been challenging!”

Below are a few tips for remote work success:

MEETING WITH YOUR TEAM ON VIDEO:  Use videoconferencing to meet with your team sometime during the week. It is quite easy to feel isolated while working at home.  Since text messages and e-mails lack inflection and phone calls lack visuals – video conferencing with your remote team adds an important dimension to remote work.  Check out Entrepreneurship magazine’s  ‘Biggest Do’s and Don’ts of Video Conferencing’

REMOTE STRUCTURE, SPACE, AND TOOL TIPS:  Your structure, remote office space, and tools are important to your remote work environment.  Here are some valuable remote work tips from Eddie Shleyner, ‘How to Conquer Working from Home – A Beginners Guide’

SCHEDULING FITNESS:  Schedule an at-home workout break. Do you need to kick off the day with yoga?  Or take a break in the middle of the day for some planks?  Since everyone is in quarantine – it is easy to find great at home workouts online.  I have compiled a list of over 500 ‘at home’ workouts for you to try during our next few socially distant weeks,  ‘At Home Workouts’

TAKING A FREE CLASS: Now that you no longer commute, you have time to take a class.  Here is a great resource to fine tune your skills before you go back to normal day-to-day operations. ‘Hubspot Free Courses’ or ‘Here are 450 Ivy League courses you can take online right now for free’

During this worldwide ‘reset’, challenge yourself to develop new skills.  The COVID-19 quarantine presents a new experience for us all.  Make the most of this time to work on yourself.  Once your industry picks up again, you will come back sharper and more experienced than pre-quarantine you.

As the Director of A+ Staffing’s experiential staffing department, I work with clients and staff in all 50 States, Puerto Rico, and Canada.  In our line of business, events happen 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Working remote is critical to support our clients and teams.
